Description of Positions

• Aide / Companion / Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

  Provide relief ("respite care") for caregivers by sitting with the person needing care.

  Provide companionship for the person and help them with social activities such as reading, playing cards, and communicating with family and friends.

  Help with tasks around the home such as light housekeeping and meal preparation. Some provide transportation for doctors' visits and other appointments.

  Perform personal care services: any task that requires hands-on assistance, such as bathing, feeding, tracking blood pressure, positioning, and help with bathroom needs. On-the-job training is provided for these duties.

• Nurse (LPN and RN)

  Perform screening and assessments with persons needing care and their families. In the home, Nurses perform specialized tasks such as setting up medications and dressing wounds.

  Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) is required for this position.
